The final trial of YouTuber Sojang, who faced charges of defaming singer Kang Daniel, has been postponed to next month.

On July 15, the Seoul Central District Court’s 18th Criminal Division (Judge Lee Jun-goo) announced that it intended to hold the final trial for Park, the operator of the YouTube channel ‘탈덕수약소’. Park was charged with defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. However, the trial was postponed due to Park’s absence.

Park’s attorney explained, “He was unable to attend due to extreme pain after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from his finger last May.”

The court remarked, “Submitting a statement of reasons for your absence on the same day is quite embarrassing for the court,” and warned, “If you fail to attend the next hearing, we will issue an arrest warrant.” Consequently, Park’s final argument and the prosecution’s sentencing request are expected to take place at the trial scheduled for the 12th of next month.

Park is accused of uploading a false video titled “The Disturbing Private Life of the Nation’s Boyfriend, Actor Idol” on his YouTube channel in 2022 with the intention of defaming Kang Daniel.

During the first trial on May 27, he admitted to uploading the video but argued that defamation did not occur, asserting, “I believed the content of the video was true.”
