Recently, the mothers of NewJeans members gave an interview with Korean media.

Minji‘s mother expressed her contentment with her daughter’s transition from Source Music to Ador, stating, “I was happy with the move” and adding that she remains very satisfied with Ador and has never considered leaving the company. She also discussed the difficulties her daughter faced at Source Music.

Minji’s mother revealed that Minji moved to Seoul alone at the age of 13 to start her training at Source Music. She described the living conditions as deplorable, noting that when she visited the accommodation a year later, it was infested with mold and cockroaches. “It still hurts to think about Minji enduring such a harsh environment in silence,” she said.

The most challenging part for Minji was the uncertainty of her debut. Her mother recounted, “Like all trainees, there was a lot of waiting. What made it particularly hard for Minji was the lack of communication and plans from Source Music. There were no concrete plans for her debut, no details on the formation of a group, or any future prospects.”

Minji balanced her training with school, which she enjoyed despite the difficulties. However, Source Music pressured her to quit her studies. Her mother shared, “When she was about to enter high school, they suggested it would be impossible to manage both school and training, advising her not to go to a regular high school.”

Minji struggled with the decision to continue her education while chasing her dreams. Her mother emphasized, “Her strong will to pursue her dreams helped her endure the harsh conditions.”

As Source Music became part of HYBE, there was renewed hope for Minji’s debut with the company’s first girl group. However, the situation changed when prominent celebrities like Miyawaki Sakura and Chaewon were recruited. Minji’s mother remembered, “When the debut plan was altered, Minji was at risk of being abandoned without any explanation. She could have been left behind without any mercy.” Despite the challenges, CEO Min Heejin supported Minji until the end, believing that she couldn’t abandon her once she had taken her under her wing.

Danielle‘s mother was shocked after seeing the trainee video released by a media outlet on the 23rd. She accused HYBE of breaking their promise regarding the debut order and “stealing members.”

She recalled, “I clearly remember the conversation when my daughter signed with Source Music. It was stated that if Daniel were to debut, it would be in the first group launched by HYBE.”

She continued, “There was no mention of including members from previously debuted teams. I only learned about this later through an external article.” Addressing the ‘member poaching’ article from the 23rd, she remarked, “This would never have been published without Hybe or Source Music’s involvement.” She expressed confusion that Hive was still investigating the circumstances of the article’s publication, adding, “We are considering legal action if the article is not corrected.”

Danielle’s mother shared that this incident made her feel that Hybe and Source Music do not protect their artists.

“I wonder how I can trust Hybee with my daughter’s career. I fear they might harass us and release fabricated articles.”

Other parents echoed her sentiments. One said, “Hani’s mother in Australia feels the same. There are many more alarming stories, but I’ll stop here. Hybe has been the aggressor. We all want this conflict to end.”
