Kang Daniel is set to continue his career with a new agency.
On July 25, ARA Entertainment announced that it had signed an exclusive contract with Kang Daniel. ARA is a newly established agency founded by former directors from YG, Big Hit, and Connect Entertainment.
An ARA representative stated, “We value the support of all his fans as we embark on this new journey. We will fully support Kang Daniel in focusing on his artistic endeavors immediately upon joining and will prioritize open communication with his fans.”
Kang Daniel first gained fame by winning first place on Mnet’s idol audition show ‘Produce 101‘ Season 2 in 2017, debuting as a member of the project group Wanna One.
After Wanna One disbanded in 2019, Kang Daniel filed for an injunction to terminate his exclusive contract with his former agency, seeking to pursue a solo career. Following the court’s approval in May of that year, he established his own agency, KONNECT Entertainment, and became its CEO.
He later expanded KONNECT Entertainment by recruiting artists such as his girlfriend Yuju, the dance crew We Dam Boys, and Chancellor. However, in May, Kang Daniel sued the major shareholder for document forgery and embezzlement related to a 10 billion won advance distribution contract.
KONNECT Entertainment eventually entered liquidation, leading to the termination of its artists’ contracts and the layoff or resignation of its employees.
Kang Daniel connected with fans through a live broadcast this afternoon to celebrate the 5th anniversary of his solo debut.
